What kind of hats can I wear a HatFlap with?
HatFlaps are specifically made to be worn with tight-fitting hats, like cowboy hats, riding helmets, and baseball caps. They also work well with bicycling helmets, rock-climbing helmets, motorcycle helmets, and construction hard hats.
Will the Small-Medium HatFlap fit children?
From about age 4 or 5, yes — it'll just cover their ears and a bit of their cheeks. Kids' heads are nearly as big as adult's heads. And any younger, well, you'll probably put another type of hat on the littlest tykes.
Does the buckle get in the way of my hat's sweatband?
Heck no — that would be uncomfortable! When wearing The HatFlap, place the strap, with the buckle about mid-way, across the top of your head, not on your forehead. There's a bit of space in the crown of the hat; you won't even notice the buckle. Although we have seen folks wear their HatFlap without a hat by repositioning the strap onto their forehead.
How would I wash a Hat Flap?
Machine wash and hang dry — the "suede" is made of fabric! More specifically: wash it in cool water with like colors, using regular detergent. Don't use bleach or fabric softener; and never bother with ironing it! For durability, it is best to hang dry your HatFlap. If it sneaks into your clothes dryer, it may shrink a tiny bit, but it'll be okay.
I have long hair. Will a Hat Flap still fit?
Absolutely. The HatFlap covers the ears and the back of the head, but it curves up in back where a braid or ponytail fits nicely.
Help me with choosing a size.
The Small-Medium fits folks with heads up to hat size 7 1/8, which is most women and youth, too.
The Large covers the ears of people who wear hat sizes 7 1/4 and larger; most men, or those that could wear either size, and want a bit more coverage. Here's a diagram to describe that:

I forgot how to lock the buckle of the HatFlap.
Basically, you thread the strap through the buckle like you would a belt, and then thread it back over the nearest and middle bars, and back under the far bar, but a diagram works much better than words, so here's the worth-a-1000-words diagram ----->
How do I adjust the strap to the right length for me?
With the strap buckled but not locked, place The HatFlap around the back of your head and on your ears with the strap around your forehead. (This is just for measurement, not where the strap will be when you wear The HatFlap.) Here's another worth-a-1000-words diagram ----->
Pull the strap until it's snug but not tight. This will be about right. Now move the strap across the top of your head and test it with your hat. When you're satisfied with the adjustment, lock the buckle (see above if you're not sure how to lock the buckle). If the excess strap is more than about 3" long, trim it to no less than 2". If your hat seems to pop off after a while, you need to lengthen The HatFlap's strap a bit.
